The participants were taught how to use REDAS software and how they can apply it in their own municipalities and cities for disaster preparedness. The participants were introduced to the use of SQlite, Spatialite and Quantum GIS and how these are linked into REDAS to prepare their risk database. They were taught how to display their multi-hazard maps, administrative and base maps. They were also taught how to different earthquake scenarios using the software. They also had GPS field work where they were able to locate and classify different types of buildings. The participants were also taught how to answer the Exposure Database Module (EDM) in preparation for their exposure daabase activity. They were asked to answer the form on Mainstreaming Hazard Assessment on Land Use Planning where the answers were culled from the display of hazard maps vis a vis the location of risk data. A plenary session facilitated by Angelito G. Lanuza which discussed their answers capped this session.
Ms. Claudette Trixia M. Flores, PR Officer from the Provincial Governement of Cavite, Director Renato U. Solidum Jr and OCD Regional Director Vicente Tomazar were the speakers for the opening ceremony of the training while Ms Cecil Mirands PG-COPS Head and Dr. Bartolome Bautista, the developer of REDAS software, were the guest speaker for the closing ceremony. Speakers and trainers were Director Renato U. Solidum, Jr., Deputy Director Bartolome C. Bautista, Maria Leonila P. Bautista, Angelito G. Lanuza, Janila B. Deocampo, Maricel L. Capa, Allan R. Loza, Lawrence Aaron Banez, Johnlery Deximo, Marcial Vito, Daphnie Agonia, Nora R. Campita, Mary Rose San Diego, Abigail Polintan, Miguel Carreon and Kenneth Quisado.
