Second REDAS Training for Aurora Province Held PDF Print

Last March 23-28 2014, the second REDAS training was conducted for the province of Aurora after the first one was conducted in 2010. The training entitled “Mainstreaming DRR into Local Development Planning Process Through the Provision and Use of REDAS Software” was held at Machiavelli Lodge, Baler, Aurora.  A total of 51 participants attended the training and they were provided with latest REDAS version and modules. Participants were composed of disaster managers, engineers and planners from the provincial and  Local Government Units (LGU) of Aurora, guest agencies (DOST and NEDA) as well as guest LGUs from  Pasay City and Davao del Norte Province. A total of 39 license keys was issued during this training. Like in other REDAS trainings, the first training day was alloted for copying and installation of the REDAS software while the remaining days were alloted for hands-on activities and GPS fieldwork.

Governor Gerardo A. Noveras of Aurora province gave the welcome messages during the opening ceremony while Mayor Nelianto Bihasa of Baler welcomed the participants on behalf of the venue municipality . PHIVOLCS Deputy Director Bartolome Bautista, as the guest speaker, gave his inspirational messages during the opening and closing ceremonies, while Engr. Elson Egargue, the PDRRM Officer and organizer of the training, also gave his closing remarks. Speakers and facilitators during the training were Bartolome Bautista, Maria Leonila Bautista, Ishmael Narag, Janila Deocampo, Rey Lumbang, Analyn Aquino, Johnlery Deximo, Abigail Polintan, Lawrence Aaron Bañes, Dave Andrei Rivera and guest facilitators Jonah Azte and RB Gallego of Aurora State College of Technology, Analyn Galam and Michael Apilado of Maria Aurora MDRRMO.
