PHIVOLCS-DOST holds REDAS Training for Province of Dinagat Islands

A REDAS Training entitled “Mainstreaming DRR into Local Development Planning Process Through the Provision and Use of REDAS Software” was conducted for the Province of Dinagat Islands(PDI) and its Local Government Units last May 4-9, 2014. This was the fourth training for the Provincial Government of Dinagat Islands to attend, first in 2007, then in June 2009 and October 2009. For the previous batches, the training was held in conjunction with another province.  This is the first time that the province underwent the training focused on their own batch. This training was held at Parkway Hotel, Surigao City, Surigao Del Norte. A total of 31 participants attended broken down into seven from the provincial offices, 15 from the PDI LGUs, three from NEDA Caraga and five from guest LGUs from Jagna (Bohol), Agusan del Sur and Surigao City. The participants were provided with the latest REDAS version 2.8k and modules such as Expoure Database Module (EDM), Seismic Hazard Assessment Module and Earthquake Risk Calculation Method. A total of 30 license keys was issued during this training.

PDI Provincial Administrator Atty. Millard Tawakal and Provincial Veterinarian Aimee Jimeno attendedthe opening ceremony and gave their welcoming and opening remarks. PHIVOLCS Deputy Director Bartolome C. Bautista gave his opening and closing remarks as the guest speaker during the opening and closing ceremonies. PDI PDRRMO Rosario B. Roxas  also gave her closing remarks during the closing ceremony. Speakers and facilitators during th training were Bartolome C. Bautista, Maria Leonila P. Bautista, Angelito G. Lanuza, Janila B. Docampo, Eduardo T. Lauron, Analyn D. Aquino, Ryan Raul Rebadulla, Johnlery P. Deximo, Abigail A. Polintan and Anne Lorraine T. Delos Santos.
