PHIVOLCS conduct a Trainers’ training on the Establishment of Community-based Early Warning System for Tsunami (CBEWS for Tsunami) in Antique province under READY project PDF Print

August 17, 2016, a trainers training on the establishment of community-based early warning system for tsunami was conducted in Antique province. The one (1) day activity was held in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique. Opening remarks was delivered by Vice Governor Edgar Denosta of Antique Province for the said activity. The trainers training was attended by representatives of fourteen (14) coastal town of Antique out of fifteen (15) composed of municipal DRRM officers, planners and social welfare officer of each municipality. Representatives from Provincial DRRM office of Antique participated also on the trainer’s training.

The objective of the ToT was to prepare the coastal communities of Antique thru the establishment of CBEWS for Tsunami by training trainers from different municipality on Earthquake and Tsunami Preparedness.

Workshop on tsunami evacuation planning

Participants learned “how to conduct Tsunami Drills” and “how to developed a Tsunami evacuation plan”. Each municipality developed their own preliminary tsunami evacuation plan and have it presented during the workshop. /EBO23/08/2016
