PHIVOLCS-DOST Conducts REDAS trainings for NEDA-RDCS and Olongapo City |

From January 31 to February 4, 2011, another REDAS training was conducted for the city of Olongapo. The city through its mayor, Jame Gordon and Disaster Management Office chied Angelito Layug requested for the training. A total of 35 participants from the various offices of the city like CDRRMC, Office of the Mayor, Engineer’s Office, health, planning, social work, MIS, utilities division as well as participants from 11 barangays attended the training. Aside from the participants from the city, there were also participants from NEDA 3, PNP, Subic Water and one from the Carranglan, Nueva Ecija. In both cases, the READY multi-hazard maps for Surigao del Norte and Zambales were used and customized and built-in into the software. Aside from these maps, the GPS locations of critical structures collected by the READY field teams as well as the NAMRIA map data were all part of the package provided during the trainings. /MLPBautista
