Mayon Volcano Bulletin

30 September 2006

9:00 AM

The seismic network at Mayon Volcano (13.2576°N, 123. 6856°E) recorded only three (3) tremor episodes during the past 24 hours.  Steaming activity was moderate with white plumes drifting east-northeast.  Night observation of the summit crater and measurement of Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) emission rate were not carried out due to bad weather condition.

Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Mayon Volcano, which means that the volcano is still at high level of unrest with fair probability for explosive eruptions.  The public is reminded that the following zones  should remain off-limits: Extended Danger Zone (EDZ), the area in the southeast sector  up to seven (7) kilometers from the summit; and the 6-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) for all other areas around the volcano.
