This is to notify all concerned authorities and the public on recent activity at Bulusan Volcano. In the last 24-hour observation period, the Bulusan Volcano Network recorded five (5) volcanic earthquakes. In view of the possibility of sudden steam-driven or phreatic explosion from the summit crater or from vents on the Bulusan upper slopes, DOST-PHIVOLCS strongly reminds the public and local government units that the 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) should be avoided at all times as a precaution. In particular, all treks to the summit must be avoided due to the increased risk of phreatic activity. DOST-PHIVOLCS is keeping close watch and evaluating the status of the volcano and will inform all concerned of any further developments.
