The PHIVOLCS-funded project Development of Early Warning Systems for Landslides, also known as the DYNASLOPE Project, is a multidisciplinary endeavor addressing the problem of landslide risk. The project is composed of instrumentation engineers, software engineers, civil engineers, geologists, social scientists, and community developers working together towards the development of a community-based early warning system for landslides.

Develop tools related to the implementation, evaluation, and refinement of protocol of the early warning system operations
Conduct work related to implementation of early warning system protocol
Conduct pre and post fieldwork administrative tasks
Educational Background
BS Computer Science, BS Industrial Engineering, BS Statistics, or any data science-related course
Experience/Training/Competency
Can and willing to learn new technology
Demonstrate good math based problem solving and analytical skills;
Critical thinker and meticulous to details
Preferably with knowledge in operations research
Can and willing to go on fieldworks
Can and willing to render monitoring work even at nights, weekends, or holidays

Preferably with at least one (1) year of full-stack-development

Demonstrate good math-based problem solving and analytical skills; Various programming languages (JS, HTML, CSS, ReactJS, React Native or similar frameworks.)
Can and willing to go on long fieldworks and frequent fieldworks

Job Description
Develop and update Community Based Early Warning System for Landslides (CBEWS-L) modules and other processes related to implementation of localized early warning systems
Conduct Information System Design (ISD) research for CBEWS-L. Topics may include but are not limited to:
Usability and User Experience Evaluation
Participatory design, human-centered design
Community informatics
DRRM-related mobile applications
Community-based DRRM
Facilitate and co-lead capacity building activities and workshops related to CBEWS-L, ISD, and People-Centered Early Warning Systems (PEWS). Activities include, but are not limited to:
Onsite, community-based prototyping of technologies such as mobile and/or web applications
User testing of mobile applications, requirements verification and validation
Capacity building activities and input sessions
Coordinate and consolidate CBEWS-L initiatives and outputs with relevant teams and stakeholders
Accomplish administrative documents related to the project; Participate in meetings and workshops facilitated for the whole project.
Other work related to the implementation of an early warning system protocol in partner sites
Educational Background
Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following programs, or related fields:
Education (preferably major in educational technology),
Communications (preferably major in educational communication),
Sociology
Psychology (with specialization in developmental psychology and/or cognition)
Industrial engineering
Information Science
Community Development
Experience/Training/Competency
One year of experience relevant to the job.
At least one (1) year experience in research on community information science, social movements, socio-technical sciences, and community information science, human-centered design, community-based DRRM
Experience in conducting seminars for grassroots communities on topics related to landslides or DRRM work is a plus
Proficiency in common office applications
Basic skills in human-centered design or interface design is a plus
Can work independently.
Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills with the team members and the other members of the project.
Can and willing to go on long fieldworks and frequent fieldworks
Can and willing to render monitoring work even at nights, weekends, or holidays
Can work well with different teams
