Project Name:

Quantitative Lahar Impact and Loss Assessment under Changing Land Use and Climate Scenarios Project (QLAP)

Contract Duration:

February – June 2021 (can be renewed if performance is at least satisfactory)

Job description:

• Participates in the conduct of volcano research
• Conducts field data gathering including geologic mapping, sampling, monitoring of river channel, morphology using drone and kinematic surveys
• Conducts laboratory processing and analysis of outcrop samples
• Conducts processing drone and kinematic data and generate orthophoto images and digital elevation models (DEMs)
• Conducts collection and processing of remote sensing and GIS data for land cover analysis
• Conduct collection and collation of primary and secondary data
• Conduct risk mapping activities
• Conduct activities related to social dimension of volcanic hazards and risk
• Acquires rainfall and other hydrological data
• Writes technical report related to the project
• Prepares project-related administrative papers
• Attends project related internal and external meetings
• Performs other tasks that may be assigned from time to time

Educational background

Graduate of BS Geology or any related courses are encouraged to apply

Required skills and qualities

• Basic background in Geology, Geomorphology, Stratigraphy, Geochemistry, and Petrology/ Petrography
• Close attention to details
• With field mapping skills
• Strong background in GIS (preferably ArcGIS) and processing satellite imagery
• With professional license or relevant certification
• Can work with minimal supervision
• Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills
