Project title: DYNASLOPE

 

Project description: 

The PHIVOLCS-funded project Development of Early Warning Systems for Landslides, also known as the DYNASLOPE Project, is a multidisciplinary endeavor addressing the problem of landslide risk. The project is composed of instrumentation engineers, software engineers, civil engineers, geologists, social scientists, and community developers working together towards the development of a community-based early warning system for landslides.

 

Implementing Agency:

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS)

 

Employment status:

Contract of Services under Geology and Geophysics, Research and Development Division (GGRDD) assigned at Earthquake, Geology, Geophysics and Research and Development Section

 

Contract Duration:

March to June 2021 (can be renewed if performance is at least satisfactory)

 

Position Title and Job Description: 

Two (2) Project Science Research Specialist II

 

Monthly Salary:

PhP 42,127.00

 

Job Description

  • Knowledge in GIS software to create and manipulate vector files, automate routine processes and develop and manage workflows
  • PGA modelling and GS modeling using REDAS, and EIL hazard modeling
  • Compile landslide (earthquake and rain-induced landslide) inventory database, and assists in building database schema and developing methods for landslide analysis
  • Knowledge on the use of remote sensing images (e.g. LIDAR, DEM) including its processing 5
  • Conduct R&D and write technical reports
  • Other tasks related to the completion of this project
  • The staff will conduct fieldwork, if needed.

 

Educational Background

  • BS Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or any geo-engineering related field, GIS technique

 

Experience/Training/Competency

      • Knowledge in GIS and numerical modeling
      • Good technical writing skills
      • Basic programming knowledge is a plus
      • Project management skills
      • At least 1 year experience as civil engineering, geologist, or any geo-engineering field
      • At least 1 year experience in GIS and remote sensing related works
      • Experience in field mapping
      • Knowledge in data management
