Project description:
The PHIVOLCS-funded project Development of Early Warning Systems for Landslides, also known as the DYNASLOPE Project, is a multidisciplinary endeavor addressing the problem of landslide risk. The project is composed of instrumentation engineers, software engineers, civil engineers, geologists, social scientists, and community developers working together towards the development of a community-based early warning system for landslides.


Implementing Agency:
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS)


Employment status:
Contract of Services under PHIVOLCS locally-funded project


Contract Duration:
July to December 2021 (can be renewed if performance is at least satisfactory)


Position Title and Job Description:
One (1) Project Science Research Specialist II


Monthy Salary:
PhP 43,954.00


● Job Description
○ Conduct research related to sensor data monitoring and analysis;
○ Develop methods and tools for sensor data monitoring and analysis;
○ Conduct pre¬ and post¬ fieldwork administrative tasks;
○ Conduct work related to implementation of early warning system protocol;
○ Perform other duties that may be required by the project;
○ Participate in meetings and workshops facilitated for the whole projects;
○ Submits necessary individual/team/group documents to MEAL

 

● Educational Background
○ BS Physics, BS Mathematics, BS Statistics, BS Geology BS Geotechnical Engineering, BS Civil Engineering or geo-engineering / computational science - related field

 

● Experience/Training/Competency
○ Preferably, licensed professional, if applicable to the profession;
○ With data-science programming-related experience;
○ Knowledgeable and skilled in, or at least can easily adapt to, Python¬-based computer programming;
○ Demonstrate good math-¬based problem ¬solving and analytical skills;
○ Has good report/research writing skills
