Project description:
The PHIVOLCS-funded project Development of Early Warning Systems for Landslides, also known as the DYNASLOPE Project, is a multidisciplinary endeavor addressing the problem of landslide risk. The project is composed of instrumentation engineers, software engineers, civil engineers, geologists, social scientists, and community developers working together towards the development of a community-based early warning system for landslides.

One (1) Science Research Specialist II - Participatory Information System Design (PISD) team
Monthly Salary:
PhP 45,780.00
Job Description:
● Develop and update community-based early warning system for landslide (CBEWS-L) modules and process related to implementation of localized EWS-L;
● Facilitate and co-lead capacity building activities related to CBEWS-L, information system development and people-centered early warning system (PEWS);
● Develop and formulate integrated CBEWS-L operation manuals;
● Coordinate and consolidate CBEWS-L initiatives and outputs with relevant teams and stakeholder;
● Conducts research pertaining to one of the major output of project;
● Conduct work-related to implementation of early warning system protocol;
● Perform other duties that may be required by the project;
● Participate in meetings and workshops facilitated for the whole projects;
● Conduct pre- and post- fieldwork administrative tasks; and
● Submit necessary individual/team/group documents to MEAL.
Educational Background:
● Bachelor's degree in education, community development, communications, public administration, or any related social sciences field
Experience/Training/Competency:
● One year experience relevant to the job
● At least one (1) year experience on community engagement and education, DRRM, science communication, and/or socio-technical sciences
● Experience in facilitating workshops for LGUs and grassroots communities on topics related to DRRM
Required skills and qualities:
● Proficiency in MS Office and internet applications
● Knowledgeable in visual design and layout; proficiency in graphic design applications is a plus
● Knowledgeable in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM), climate change adaptation (CCA), early warning systems, community engagement, inclusive development;
● Demonstrate good training facilitation and communication skills; proficient in both English and Filipino; proficiency in other local language/s is/are a plus
● Excellent (technical) writing skills both in English and Filipino;
● Experience working with communities, vulnerable sectors, and local government units (LGUs);
● Can and willing to render monitoring work even at nights, weekends, or holidays;
● Can and willing to go on long field works
