Contract of Services under Volcano Geology, Geochemistry and Geophysics R&D Section (VGGGRDS) of Geology, Geophysics Research and Development Division (GGRDD)
Project title: Evaluation and Determination of Eruption Potential of Philippine Volcanoes (EDEPPV) Project
Contract Duration:
January – June 2022 (can be renewed if performance is at least satisfactory)
Job Description:
Responsible for collating and archiving all available volcano geologic data from various sources
Responsible for digitizing existing and new geologic maps covering all volcanoes in the Philippines. Other related tasks include converting paper maps into digital form and georeferencing the scanned map into a user-defined coordinate system and projection.
Proved fieldwork assistance such as volcanic deposit mapping, stratigraphic logging, river channel observation (for lahar assessment), collecting samples (rock, charcoal, water, etc.) if necessary
Provide support in drafting technical reports and presentations as well as preparation of administrative-related documents
Performs other tasks that may be assigned from time to time, especially during volcano-related emergencies
Educational Background
Graduate of BS Geology or any related courses are encouraged to apply
Experience/Training/Competency
Background in Geology, Geomorphology, Stratigraphy, Geochemistry, and Petrology/Petrography
Close attention to details
With field mapping skills
Background in GIS (preferably ArcGIS) is an advantage
Professional license or relevant certification
