Position Title
Science Research Specialist I

 

Brief Description of the Position
• Conduct field data gathering such as volcanic deposit mapping, stratigraphic logging, monitoring of river channel morphology using drone and kinematic surveys, rock sampling, among others;
• Perform GIS-related tasks including digitization, image and topographic map interpretation, process and generate orthophoto images and digital elevation models (DEMs), etc.;
• Collate available volcano geologic data from various sources as well as acquisition of rainfall and other hydrological data;
• Conduct collection, compilation and digitization of primary and secondary data related to the qualitative and quantitative volcanic hazards research and assessment;
• Process hazard and exposure input information for threat assessment, compilation of codes and perform model runs for qualitative modelling activities; Perform preliminary interpretation of qualitative hazard zones of assigned volcano/es;
• Write technical reports and prepare project-related administrative papers;
• Attend internal and external engagements/trainings/meetings;
• Performs other functions as may be assigned from time to time
