Job Description:
• Prepare detailed manual for the prediction of long-period earthquake simulation, its publication, system applications and activities
• Create Strategic graphics and interactive videos for the 3D simulations.
• Prepare write-ups and layout of reports, technical publications and other special publications
• Should be able to compile and run a program in Fortran language
• To do a low frequency earthquake simulation of Fortran
• To do a high frequency earthquake simulation in Matlab
• To be able to calculate the asperity of faults and sub faults
• To be able to calculate the specific radiation pattern of an earthquake, focal mechanism and able to do the coulomb stress calculation
• Able to calculate the travel time and travel take off of earthquake propagation
• Calculate the theoretical travel time of the S wave arrival between a point source at a depth h(km) and a receiver at a distance d (km)
• Able to modify velocity structure for an average S-wave velocity of the study region
• To calculate the high frequency seismograms from a multi-asperity model at the target stations
• Calculate and plots the broadband frequency seismogram at a particular station
• Able to plot the acceleration and velocity waveforms, as well as the acceleration and velocity response spectra for the EW, NS, and UD components
• Perform other related tasks as may be assigned from time to time

 

Educational Background
 Preferably Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Civil or Computer Engineering, Physics or any related courses are encouraged to apply

 

Experience/Training/Competency
 Knowledge in Matlab, Fortran programming, Linux/ Unix operating system
 Knowledge on the physics of earthquake waveform (P, S. wave, body and surface wave, duration and converted waves)
