Job description:
■ Conduct field data gathering such as volcanic deposit mapping, stratigraphic logging, monitoring of river channel morphology rock sampling, among others;
■ Conduct RPA field surveys and processing of RPA acquired images to generate orthophoto images and digital elevation models (DEMs) etc.
■ Perform GIS-related tasks including digitization, image and topographic map interpretation
■ Collate available volcano geologic data from various sources as well as acquisition of rainfall and other hydrological data
■ Conduct collection, compilation and digitization, of primary and secondary data related to the qualitative and quantitative volcanic hazards research and assessment
■ Write technical reports and prepare project-related administrative papers
■ Attend internal and external engagements/trainings/meetings
■ Perform other tasks/functions (may not be exclusively project/section related) as may be assigned from time to time, especially during times of emergencies
○ Educational background
■ Bachelor of Science degree in Geology
○ Required skills and qualities
■ Basic background in Geology, Geomorphology, stratigraphy, Geochemistry and Petrology/Petrography
■ Close attention to details (above average)
■ With filed mapping skills (basic to intermediate)
■ Basic background in GIS (preferably ArcGIS) is an advantage
■ Technical report writing (basic to intermediate)
