DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for collating and archiving of volcano-related technical and administrative documents and records as coordinated with Project Leader and senior staff of the project;
2. Generate approved schema for easy access of primary and secondary data of the studied volcanoes;
3. Provide fieldwork assistance, if needed, such as logistics coordination, correspondences, and documentation;
4. Provide administrative assistance such as preparation and closing of travel documents, drafting of work instructions or guidelines, and scribing minutes of meetings;
5. Attends project-related internal and external engagements/trainings/meetings;
6. Performs other tasks/functions (may not be exclusively project related) as may be assigned from time to time, especially during times of emergencies
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/COMPETENCIES:
- Basic background in Geology;
- Basic background in General Chemistry;
- Close attention to details (above average);
- Basic background in GIS (preferably ArcGIS) is an advantage;
- Facilitation skills;
- Basic knowledge in Project Managament, Monitoring and Evaluation;
- Logistics procurement, inventory and data management

Educational Background: BSc or MSc Geology /Chemistry
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts fieldwork, sample tests and in-situ measurement of the physico chemical properties of thermal spring waters and other volcanic fluids (e.g. crater lakes, fumaroles mud pools);
2. Assists in processing of samples collected in the field using a range of analytical equipment as part of the research, this includes X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, mass spectrometers, microscopes and chromatographs;
3. Conducts review of related literatures which seek and provide scientific explanation of research and developments related to the project;
4. Collates and process results obtained in the analytical works performed on the samples;
5. Prepares manuscript for publication including drafting of preliminary interpretation of the geochemical and isotopic results of the studied volcanoes;
6. Assist in the preparation of work instruction for the methods used in the analysis of the samples;
7. Prepares project-related administrative papers;
8. Writes technical report related to the project;
9. Attends project-related internal and external engagements/trainings/meetings;
10. Performs other tasks/functions (may not be exclusively project related) as may be assigned from time to time, especially during times of emergencies
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/COMPETENCIES:
- Basic background in Geology, Fluid Geochemistry, and Petrology/Petrography;
- Strong background in General Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry;
- Experience in working with analytical equipment is an advantage;
- Close attention to details (above average);
- With field mapping skills ( intermediate);
- Basic background in GIS (preferably ArcGIS) is an advantage;
- Technical Report Writing (intermediate to high level);
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;

1. Assists in the conduct of fieldwork, sample testing and in-situ measurement of the physico chemical properties of thermal spring waters and other volcanic fluids (e.g. crater lakes, fumaroles mud pools);
2. Assists in the preparation of samples collected in the field for analytical work (e.g. titration, acidification, dilution of samples);
3. Conducts review of related literatures which seek and provide scientific explanation of research and developments related to the project;
4. Develops and maintains the database of primary and secondary data related to the geochemical investigation of fluids on active volcanoes;
5. Assist in the preparation of work instruction for the methods used in the analysis of the samples;
6. Keeps up to date with developments and new research in fluid geochemistry;
7. Prepares project-related administrative papers;
8. Writes technical report related to the project;
9. Attends project-related internal and external engagements/trainings/meetings;
10. Performs other tasks/functions (may not be exclusively project related) as may be assigned from time to time, especially during times of emergencies
