Project title: DYNASLOPE

 

Project description:
The PHIVOLCS-funded project Development of Early Warning Systems for Landslides, also known as the DYNASLOPE Project, is a multidisciplinary endeavor addressing the problem of landslide risk. The project is composed of instrumentation engineers, software engineers, civil engineers, geologists, social scientists, and community developers working together towards the development of a community-based early warning system for landslides.

 

Employment status: Contract of Services under PHIVOLCS locally-funded project

 

Contract Duration: August to December 2024 (may be renewed if performance is satisfactory)

 

Monthly Salary: PhP 61,628

 

Job description
● Oversee activities of the Hazards Team
● Conduct community landslide risk assessment
● Conduct research related to landslide hazard and landslide risk
● Facilitate field and quick-response surveys
● Manage and lead research team, ensuring research and intervention outputs are delivered satisfactorily and on time
● Create technical reports, documentations, and papers related to team outputs
● Represent the group in meetings and reports in the absence of Project Senior Technical Specialist
● Actively participate in Project-level management and planning process
● Accomplish administrative documents related to the project
● Participate in meetings and workshops facilitated for the whole project
● Assist in the conduct of seminars, workshops, and consultations
● Conduct work related to implementation of early warning system protocol
● Submit pertinent documents (outputs) to team leader/Project

 

Educational background
● At least a bachelor's degree in geology or civil engineering or related field

 

Work experience
● At least two (2) years of experience relevant to the job, preferably in engineering geology or geotechnical engineering
● At least one (1) year experience in landslide mapping, monitoring, and early warning
● Experience in conducting seminars for grassroots communities related to landslides or DRRM work is a plus
● Experience in any research institution is a plus

 

Required skills and qualities
● Preferably, licensed professional
● Competent in remote sensing and GIS
● Proficient in common office applications
● Demonstrate enthusiasm and interest in community-­based work
● Demonstrate good communication skills, both in English and Filipino
● Can and willing to go on long fieldworks and frequent fieldworks
● Can and willing to render landslide monitoring work even at nights, weekends, or holidays
● Can work independently
● Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills with team members and other members

Job description
• Oversee the monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning team
• Manage and lead design implementation of data gathering tools and activities, and facilitate evaluation and reporting to pertinent stakeholders.
• Actively participate in project-level management and planning process
• Coordinate project concerns and logistics with the community and other relevant stakeholders;
• Accomplish administrative documents related to the project
• Participate in meetings and workshops facilitated for the whole project
• Conduct pre¬ and post-fieldwork administrative tasks
• Conduct work related to the implementation of the early warning system protocol
• Provide regular feedback to the management committee pertinent to quality and timely delivery of output

 

Educational background
• Bachelor's degree in community development, communications, public administration, education, engineering, or related fields

Work experience
• At least two (2) years experience in M&E;
• At least two (2) years of experience in conducting seminars for grassroots communities on topics related to landslides or DRRM work; preferably, with at least one (1) year work experience as a team leader; demonstrate good seminar-facilitation skills; demonstrate good communication skills, both in English and Filipino; additional local language/s is/are preferred
