Brief Description of the Position
- Lead at least one of the projects being implemented by the Section specifically under the program of National Tsunami
Monitoring and Early Warning (NTNEW);
- Lead in timely delivery of accurate Tsunami Information and Warning or Advisory.;
- Act as substitute of the other (Earthquake) Unit whenever necessary;
- Lead the operation and maintenance of all the Stations of the Philippine Tsunami Network (PTN) composed of Sea Level Monitoring Station (SLMS) for tsunami detection and Community Tsunami Alerting Station (CTAS);
- Coordinate with the three Cluster Centers and Mirror Station such as the PMCMCET, PVCMCET, and PTMS for the maintenance of the stations within the cluster.;
- Lead the continuous enhancement and maintenance of Decision Support Tools such as Tsunami Scenario Database and other products that may be used in timely issuance of warning and advisory.;
- Facilitate the expansion and adoption of the SLMS for Tsunami Detection of the Philippines and construction of necessary platforms and pedestals.;
- Monitor the repair and preventive maintenance and stations upgrade including Repair and Rehabilitation Projects of all the tsunami stations and other related installations.;
- Monitor of the compilation of all issued Tsunami Information, Warning or Advisory including Earthquake.;
Coordinate with all the Local Government Units (LGU) for earthquake and tsunami related matters and activities such as Information, Education and Communication campaigns and Workshops on Tsunami Evacuation.;
- Other works assigned by the SOEPD Chief and STNO Section Head related to issuances and operations including external engagements.
