Project Title: Socio-Economic Volcanic Risk Assessment (SEVRA)

 

Employment Status: Contract of Service

 

Monthly Salary: P 25,453/month

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conduct social surveys, focusing on community leaders and stakeholders, to gather information on individual/community preparedness before, during, and after past volcanic eruptions;
2. Collect and analyze data using research methods to validate conclusions drawn from previous social volcanology studies;
3. Engage and collaborate with local communities, relevant authorities, government agencies, and other organizations involved in disaster risk reduction (DRR);
4. Document survey results and observations, prepare comprehensive reports that summarize validation study outcomes, and make recommendations for DRR strategy planning and implementation;
5. Stay updated on the latest methodologies in social research, risk assessment, and disaster management;
6. Write technical report/s and/or publishable paper/s related to social volcanology;
7. Prepare project-related administrative papers, internal, and external engagements/meetings/trainings;
8. Performs other tasks/functions as assigned from time to time, especially during emergencies, which may not be exclusively project-related

 

Educational Background: BS Geology

 

Experience/Training/Competencies
1. Basic background in Geology, Volcanology, and Social Sciences
2. Familiar with research methodologies, including survey design and data analysis
3. With experience in engaging with diverse communities, stakeholders, and local communities
4. Basic understanding of DRR principles and methodologies (especially in the context of volcanic risk assessment)
5. Basic to intermediate technical report writing skills
6. Adept communication skills
7. Basic background in GIS
8. Adept attention to details
9. Proficient in field mapping, including community engagement, observations, and interviews

Project Title: Philippine Volcano Hazard Research and Assessment (PVHRA) Project

 

Employment Status: Contract of Service

 

Monthly Salary: P 25,453/month

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide assistance in the field data gathering such as monitoring of river channel morphology using drone and kinematic surveys, among others;
2. Assist in the processing drone and kinematic data and generate orthophoto images and digital elevation models (DEMs);
3. Assist in the acquisition of rainfall and other hydrological data; communication with LGUs for lahar monitoring activities;
4. Conducts collection, compilation and digitization of primary and secondary data related to the qualitative and quantitative volcanic hazards research and assessment;
5. Assist in the process of hazard and exposure input information for threat assessment, compilation of codes and perform model runs for quantitative modeling activities;
6. Performs preliminary interpretation of qualitative hazard zones of assigned volcano/es;
7. Prepares project-related administrative papers;
8. Writes technical report related to the project;
9. Attends project-related internal and external engagements/trainings/meetings;
10. Performs other tasks/functions (may not be exclusively project related) as may be assigned from time to time, especially during times of emergencies.

 

Educational Background: BS Geology

Experience/Training/Competencies
- Basic background in Geology, Geomorphology, Stratigraphy, Geochemistry, and Petrology/Petrography;
- Close attention to details (above average);
- With field mapping skills (basic to intermediate)
- Basic background in GIS (preferably ArcGIS) is an advantage;
- Professional license or relevant certification;
- Technical Report Writing (basic to intermediate)
