Project Title: ACER Project 1: Deterministic Liquefaction and Tsunami Hazard Mapping of Selected Low-lying Areas in the Philippines using GIS, AI, and Geophysical Techniques
Employment Status: Contract of Service
Monthly Salary: Php 37,584.00/month
Contract Duration: September 2024 - February 2025
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Pre-processes remote sensing data (LiDAR, IfSAR, and aerial photos) to make them ready for tsunami modelling
2. Develops tsunami modelling network for hazard mapping
3. Conducts earthquake hazards mapping and research using geophysical, geomorphological, geologic and AI techniques and instrumentation
4. Assists in the analysis and interpretation of processed data
5. Carries out research methods and activities in the project plan
6. Assists in writing of reports and publishable papers
7. Assists in operation/population/maintenance of databases
8. Assists in administrative tasks concerning the project
9. Presents results in written and oral manner
10. Performs other tasks that may be assigned
Educational Background:
- Graduate of Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Computer Science, Geology, Geography, Geodetic Engineering or any Earth Science
related courses.
Experience/Training/Competencies
1. Able, willing and fit to travel and conduct fieldworks
2. Basic field mapping and GIS skills
3. Able to communicate well with coworkers, partners and stakeholders
4. Able to manage work schedule and project activities
5. With good technical writing and presentation skills
6. With sound understanding of research topic principles and methodologies related to earthquake sources and effect
7. Has basic knowledge in water wave science (tsunami, storm surge, tides, etc.)
8. Has basic knowledge in any numerical/computational modeling technique
9. Has work/research experience in programming (e.g Linux) and high-level scripting languages (e.g. Python and MATLAB) in an academic and research setting
10. Programming experience in Linux environment is an advantage
