Brief Description of the Position:

Assists the Institute in capacity-building for volcanic hazards and earthquake safety with regards to housing, facilities and infrastructure. Conducts relevant research for monitored active volcanoes. Helps develop new applications and tools to increase the efficiency and accuracy of volcano monitoring. Performs day-to-day monitoring duties and responsibilities and other duties and tasks assigned.

Upkeep the integrity of ground deformation monitoring instruments and stations, and performing other responsibilities as assigned.

Permanently assignes to a volcano observatory. Reports to the resident volcanologist and the VOO Section Head. Shall perform normal and emergency mode monitoring duties and responsibilities, maintain fuctionality, upkeep and efficiency of the observatory and its network of remote stations, provide information services to stakeholders within the AOR of the assigned volcano observatory; Assits collegues on fieldwork; Participate in monitoring R&D and perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
