DOST-PHIVOLCS conducted a Seminar-Workshop for 3R (Risk Reduction and Resilience) Campaign for Luzon 1 Cluster on March 21-23, 2023 at the Lohas Hotel in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga. Luzon 1 Cluster consists of representatives from Regions 1, 2, 3, and CAR. They are from the regional offices of the DOST, DOST-Provincial Science and Technology Offices (PSTO), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) regions, Office of Civil Defense (OCD), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers (PDRRMO) and selected City DRRMOs. There were 54 participants- 19 female with one senior citizen, 35 male with two senior citizens.

DOST-PHIVOLCS Director Teresito C. Bacolcol welcomed the participants. He also gave an introduction to Disaster Resilience and Risk Reduction and an overview of PHIVOLCS and its programs.

The main reference material for this seminar-workshop is the 3R (Risk Reduction and Resilience) Guidebook.  The print copies will be distributed by DILG to the participants’ offices while the digital copy was provided to them through this seminar-workshop. An overview of the seminar-workshop and outline of the guidebook was presented. Details of discussion were done through a lecture-discussion by the subject matter experts.

Seminar-workshop kits with information materials, notebook with pen, whistle, and thumb drive with information materials and copies of resource speakers’ presentations were provided to the participants. The workshops enabled the participants to develop their action plans on how to mainstream the learnings into their disaster risk reduction plans and how the provinces will plan for their cities and municipalities. Participants from the regional offices discussed and drafted monitoring tool on how the provinces will implement their action plans. Outputs will be summarized and utilized for future activities of DOST-PHIVOLCS and partner agencies. The participants received their Certificate of Participation at the end of the seminar-workshop.
