Quezon City - The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) joined the lineup of new programs in Radyo Pilipinas Tres (RP3) Alert to provide the audience with in-depth information on the Institute and its services.
On February 23, 2024, DOST-PHIVOLCS signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Presidential Broadcast Service - Bureau of Broadcast Services (PBS-BBS) to produce a weekly radio program titled “Ako at Geo: Usapang Kaligtasan with PHIVOLCS” at PIA Building, Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.
“DOST-PHIVOLCS recognizes broadcast media as an important tool in strengthening its relationship with its stakeholders through the dissemination of vital information, hence, our partnership with PBS-BBS and RP3 Alert,” said PHIVOLCS Director Teresito C. Bacolcol. “Through this, “Ako at Geo: Usapang Kaligtasan with PHIVOLCS” we hope to provide more accessible and comprehensive science-based information to help them prepare and respond appropriately to geologic hazards,” he continued.
In this program, DOST-PHIVOLCS will provide weekly volcano, earthquake, and tsunami updates; answer frequently asked questions, clarify misconceptions and misinformation, and discuss various topics relating to the Institute’s mandates, programs and projects, and services.
“Ako at Geo: Usapang Kaligtasan with PHIVOLCS” will air every Monday starting March 4, 2024 until August 26, 2024 at 1:00 - 2:00 PM over RP3 Alert 1278 and via livestream on Radyo Pilipinas Tres and DOST-PHIVOLCS Facebook Page.
