The DOST-PHIVOLCS and British Geological Survey (BGS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in scientific research, innovation, and other programs and activities held at PHIVOLCS Building in Quezon City on November 15, 2024.
The BGS is a component body of the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI), the principal supplier of national capability in geoscience in the UK.
PHIVOLCS Director Teresito C. Bacolcol and BGS Chief Scientist for Multihazards and Resilience Prof. Jonathan E. Chambers led the signing ceremony. Witnessing this momentous event were PHIVOLCS Deputy Director Dr. Ma. Mylene M. Villegas and BGS Multihazard Scientist Dr. Annie E. G. Winson.
Dr. Bacolcol expressed his gratitude highlighting the significance of the partnership towards a deeper collaboration, knowledge sharing, exchange of resources, and best practices.
This collaboration between the DOST-PHIVOLCS and BGS marks a significant step for the advancements of scientific research for both institutions.
