The Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) earned a bronze medal at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva (IEIG), held from April 09 to 13, 2025, for its innovation, HazardHunterPH: Systems and Methods in Conducting Multiple Single Hazard Assessments. The tool also received a special award from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
HazardHunterPH is an online integrated platform that delivers natural hazard assessments for any location in the Philippines in five seconds. HazardHunterPH's recognition highlights that the Philippines innovative solution for disaster risk reduction is at par with global standards.
The event featured more than 1,000 inventions from at least 35 countries, with the Philippines showcasing six technologies, including entries from DOST-ITDI—two of which won silver medals—and two private companies that received gold and silver awards.
The Philippine delegation was led by Dr. Napoleon K. Juanillo, Jr., DOST Assistant Secretary for Technology Transfer, Communications, and Commercialization, with DOST-Technology Application and Promotion Institute led by Director Mary Ivy D. Decena. The Philippines’ participation in this year’s IEIG is supported by the “Shape the Future” Campaign of DOST-TAPI under its Science and Technology Promotion for International Contest and Exhibits (SPICE) Program.
