PHIVOLCS conducted two sessions of online trainings entitled “Training on REDAS Exposure Database Module Using GeoMapperPH: Exposure Data Mapper for Catholic Relief Services (CRS)” for the CRS-supported LGUs of Manila, Caloocan, Pasig, Pateros (Metro Manila), San Jose del Monte (Bulacan) including partner from the University of the Philippines-Diliman Department of Geography last June 5 and July 10, 2020. The goal of the training was to reorient and familiarize the participants with the use of REDAS Exposure Data Mapper (EDM) GeoMapperPH as a tool for collecting exposure data which can be used for impact and risk assessment.

There was a total of 61 participants during the two trainings: Manila (7), Pasig (8), Pateros (7), Caloocan (4), San Jose del Monte, Bulacan (10) and from the Catholic Relief Services (11) and UP Department of Geography (14). 

The training entitled covered the orientation on the collection of Exposure Database Module (EDM) through the use of GeoMapperPH application as well as lectures on Building Typology and Attributes and Data Management of Survey Data.  In view of the Covid19 pandemic, the participants were taught How to Develop their LGU’s Exposure Database using Google Street View as an alternative to foot survey. Overall, the training was successfully completed with participants having providing more than satisfactory rating and positive response.

The training was headed by Associate Scientist Maria Leonila Bautista and GeoRiskPH Head Mabelline Cahulogan. Other speakers and facilitators included Dr. Rhommel N. Grutas, Ian P. Javier, John Deladia, Jordana Marie L. Argamosa, Rudgel F. Mirabite (from REDAS Team), Kiarra Angeli Hurtado, Conrado Alfonso M. Favis, Princess Pascual, Cheryl Calapardo, Ynna Patricia Aquino, John Harold Tabuzo, Hanz Alejandria, Emjei Bernardo and Janine Israel (from GeoRiskPH Team)
