Job Description

• Oversee the technical design and execution of tsunami source modeling, wave propagation simulations, and hazard map generation.
• Supervise and mentor the Science Research Specialists in implementing simulation workflows and quality assurance.
• Develop, test, and refine computational models using programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R, or Fortran) for numerical and statistical simulations, including Monte Carlo-based uncertainty and sensitivity analysis.
• Conduct data analysis, calibration, and sensitivity testing to ensure model accuracy and robustness.
• Collaborate with local and international experts to align methodologies with established hazard modeling standards.

 

Educational Background

● Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Civil/Coastal Engineering, Oceanography, Earth Science, Physics or Applied Mathematics (Specialization or Master’s degree is an advantage)

 

Experience/Training/Competency

– Minimum of 3 years of experience in tsunami or seismic hazard modeling, numerical simulations, or statistical data analysis.
– Proficiency in programming for modeling and statistical analysis (Python, MATLAB, R, or equivalent)
– Strong technical background in GIS, hydrodynamic modeling, and spatial data management.
– Demonstrated capacity for leadership, problem-solving, and producing publishable-quality technical outputs.
