The PHIVOLCS-funded project Development of Early Warning Systems for Landslides, also known as the DYNASLOPE Project, is a multidisciplinary endeavor addressing the problem of landslide risk. The project is composed of instrumentation engineers, software engineers, civil engineers, geologists, social scientists, and community developers working together towards the development of a community-based early warning system for landslides.

Contract of Services under PHIVOLCS locally-funded project
Contract Duration:
February to June 2026 (may be renewed if performance is satisfactory)
Monthly Salary:
PhP 49,562.00 + premium
Position Title and Job Description:
One (1) Project Technical Specialist II under the Software Infrastructure Team
Job description
● Strategic Project Leadership and Management
○ Participate scrum meeting and daily stand-up meeting
● Core Outputs: Capacity-building, Stakeholder Engagement, Research, and EWS-L Monitoring
○ -24/7 technical support to provide continuous assistance and resolution for urgent bugs and script issues that may occur in our software or application;
○ Conduct trainings for the usage and web presentation tools;
○ Conduct local and web server database management;
○ Ensure monthly database backups are completed and securely maintained;
○ Daily monitoring of monitoring and information application (MIA) and CBEWSL web app backend scripts;
○ Development of new features and modules for MIA and CBEWSL web application;
○ Maintenance of all CBEWSL web applications, ensuring the implementation of up-to-date features;
○ Software dependencies update quarterly and MIA backend libraries update quarterly;
○ Perform maintenance and software updates for rack server, raspberry pi communication modules and database virtual machines;
○ Maintain and ensure 24/7 operation of cloud service of CBEWSL sites;
● Operational and Administrative Oversight
○ Conduct pre and post fieldwork administrative tasks;
○ Conduct work related to implementation of early warning system protocol
Educational background
● BS Applied Physics, BS Physics, BS Computer Science, BS Math, BS Stat, BS Library Science, BS Information Technology, BS Geology, or any science-related course
Required skills and qualities
● Proficient in Ubuntu / Windows / CentOS Server
● Atleast 1 year of experience in GIT
● Atleast 1 year of experience in Websocket protocols
● Knowledgeable of Test Driven Development using Mocha / PHPUnit / PyUnit / Selenium Web driver / Material UI
● Has an experience in Agile Framework
● Proficient in Python / Flask / React JS/ React Native and Nodejs
● Has landslide monitoring experience with Data analysis and Community relations for atleast 1 year.
● Has experience with Embedded Linux system
● Has experience in Highcharts.js
● Has experience in sqlalchemy (ORM)
● Has experience in POSTMAN (API Testing platform)
