Position Title: Supervising Science Research Specialist
Brief Description of the Position
1. Lead and supervise the overall implementation of section programs and projects covering volcano geology, geochemistry, geophysics, and related hazard assessment activities
2. Provide strategic direction in research planning, prioritization, and resource allocation across section activities
3. Direct and integrate multidisciplinary research outputs from field investigations, laboratory analyses, geospatial datasets, and historical/analytical databases
4. Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of methodologies, workflows, and standard operating procedures across field, laboratory, geospatial, and analytical components
5. Review and approve technical reports, hazard assessments, maps, and other scientific outputs of the section
6. Coordinate with volcano observatories, project teams, and external partners to support monitoring, response, and research requirements
7. Monitor and evaluate the progress of section deliverables and ensure timely and quality outputs
8. Supervise, mentor, and assess the performance of section personnel across different functional areas
9. Assist Division leadership in planning, coordination, and implementation of programs and initiatives
10. Perform other related functions as may be assigned
