Project description:

The PHIVOLCS-funded project, Development of Early Warning Systems for Landslides, also known as the DYNASLOPE Project, is a multidisciplinary endeavor addressing landslide risk. The project is composed of instrumentation engineers, software engineers, civil engineers, geologists, social scientists, and community developers working together towards the development of community-based early warning system for landslides (CBEWS-L).

Employment status:

Contract of Services under PHIVOLCS locally-funded project

 

Contract Duration:

July 16 to December 31, 2026

 

One (1) Project Technical Specialist I for the Community-based Early Warning System for Landslides (CBEWS-L) Team

 

Monthly Salary: PhP 45, 694 plus 20% premium = 54,833

 

Key responsibilities:

1. Core outputs: Support the establishment and implementation of CBEWS-L

● Develop and update the CBEWS-L establishment module, presentation materials, and tools, integrating lessons learned from recent implementation.

● Implement the CBEWS-L module (i.e., CBEWS-L protocol formulation, CBEWS-L deployment, and the annual CBEWS-L maintenance).

● Facilitate and co-lead capacity-building activities with local stakeholders to support the establishment and implementation of CBEWS-L.

● Participate in site selection for CBEWS-L establishment and implementation.

● Assist in the daily CBEWS-L operations of local stakeholders and Project monitoring personnel.

● Update documents related to the establishment, implementation, refinement of protocols, and integration with Project monitoring operations (e.g., CBEWS-L protocol guide for the Project monitoring personnel, CBEWS-L operations manual for the CBEWS-L OpCen).

● Prepare and provide quarterly feedback reports to CBEWS-L sites.

● Coordinate closely with the Project teams involved in capacity-building and technology development.

● Consolidate and coordinate CBEWS-L initiatives and outputs with relevant teams and stakeholder.

● Coordinate other CBEWS-L implementation-related matters with local stakeholders (i.e., Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and cloud service procurement).

● Conduct work related to the implementation of early warning system and CBEWS-L protocols;

● Participate in research activities focused on the establishment and implementation of CBEWS-L.

2. Administrative tasks, compliance, and reporting

● Conduct pre- and post-fieldwork administrative tasks.

● Participate in project, group, and team meetings and workshops.

● Submit necessary individual, team, or group documents to MEAL.

● Perform other project-related tasks (e.g., fieldwork) as assigned.

Educational Background

Bachelor’s degree in education, community development, communications, public administration or related social science fields

OR

BS Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or any geo-engineering related field, GIS technique

 

Work Experience

● Minimum of one (1) year experience in relevant fields.

● Experience in developing and implementing socio-technical modules.

● Background in working with Local Government Units (LGUs) and multi-stakeholder groups on topics related to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and institutionalization.

Required Skills and Competencies

● Good facilitation, documentation, report writing, and research writing skills.

● Good written and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Filipino; proficiency in additional local language(s) is an advantage.

● Familiarity with concepts and methods in both social development and information technology.
