The Seismologal Observation and Earthquake Prediction Division of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology is seeking highly motivated individuals, with interest to pursue scientific careers in seismology and tsunami science, to fill the following vacant positions:
Two (2) Science Research Assistants
Job Description
Analyze digital seismograms to determine phase arrivals and earthquake source parameters;
Perform limited monitoring duties in a rotating capacity especially during significant earthquakes, tsunami events and other related emeregencies;
Refinement of data processing and analysis techniques;
Perform quality control and curation of earthquake and tsunami data catalogue and other related databases;
Occasionally assist with maintenance of seismic monitoring instruments;
Assist in the preparation of trechnica reports;
Assist in information services to stakeholders;
Participate in R&D projects and emergency activities

Actively participate in project-related activities on Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System (REDAS);
Prepare hazard exposure database and process satellite imageries;
Conduct multi-risk assessment;
Conduct and facilitate exposure survey;
Perform as speaker and facilitator during trainings on REDAS;
Assist in information services to stakeholders
