Project title: GeoRisk Philippines: Innovation for Resilience


Project description:
GeoRisk Philippines will be a perpetual program/project under the Geomatics and Hazard Assessment Service Section to ensure the sustainability of the GeoRisk Philippines Initiative, which started as a DOST-GIA project from 2018 to 2020.

 

Three main platforms were developed under the said initiative: the GeoMapperPH for data input, the HazardHunterPH and the GeoAnalyticsPH for data visualization, analysis, and monitoring. All information in the integrated system has been cleansed and standardized to ensure the interoperability of data. There had been 16-digit numeric codes developed for nine thematic areas namely, (1) maps, (2) hazards, (3) Exposure, (4) Impact, (5) Risk, (6) Capacity, (7) Vulnerability, (8) Administrative Boundary, (9) available for future thematic areas.

Employment status:
Contract of Services under PHIVOLCS locally-funded project

Contract Duration:
May 2025 to June 2025 (may be renewed if performance is satisfactory)

Monthly Salary: PhP 37, 584.00

 

Educational Background
Preferably BS Geology, Geography, Geodetic or other related Engineering and Earth Science Courses

Job Description
– Provides technical support in the maintenance and enhancement of the GeoRiskPH Integrated Platform and its associated database systems.
– Standardizes data collected from various stakeholders to ensure consistency and interoperability across the GeoRiskPH system.
– Conducts research aimed at improving the GeoRiskPH System or related platforms.
– Explores AI, GIS, and remote sensing techniques to contribute to the development of up-to-date methodologies.
– Assists in publishing Scientific Papers
– Prepares and writes technical documents, articles, and research reports related to GeoRiskPH projects.
– Assists in the conduct of research on risk assessment methods related to GeoRiskPH.
– Effectively communicates research findings through both written reports and oral presentations.
– Generates geospatial maps and visualizations to support research, operations, and stakeholder dissemination.
– Performs other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Experience/Training/Competency

– Critical thinker

– Analytical

– Knowledgeable and skilled in GIS applications, preferably ArcGIS, knowledgeable with graphic software
