One (1) Project Technical Specialist II – AI Developer

 

Project title: Future-Ready DOST: Upscaling and Integrating Geospatial Analytics and AI in Planning and Decision-Making – GGRD: GATES Project 3

Implementing Agency: Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS)

 

Employment status: Contract of Services under PHIVOLCS locally-funded project

Monthly Salary: PhP 56,696.00

 

Job Description

1. Conduct research and development of AI and machine learning models to support disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation (DRR-CCA), and related applications;

2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, clarify objectives, and translate business and scientific needs into AI-driven R&D outputs;

3. Develop, test, and refine AI models for integration into existing systems and processes to support operational use;

4. Optimize AI models and applications for accuracy, scalability, and performance, ensuring relevance to evolving research needs;

5. Document AI research methodologies, development processes, and outcomes in clear, structured, and accessible formats;

6. Ensure compliance with data privacy, ethical AI practices, and security regulations in all R&D activities;

7. Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Project Leader and senior project staff.

 

Educational Background

– Preferably with Master units in AI-related degree; at least BS degree, with strong analytical skills

 

Experience/Training/Competency

– Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

– Knowledgeable and skilled in AI/ML development frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and their applications;

– Skilled in data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, and optimization; and

– With good interpersonal, honesty and communication skills.
